With the pace of life these days, we’re all in need of a bit of rejuvenation, space, and peace.

The good news is, these are our birthright, and long to come out.

Retreat in silence has been used as a support for meditation practice for millennia, and is perhaps more needed now than ever.

Silent Meditation Weekends offer a gentle and supportive immersion into practice, and a relief from the demands of daily life.

They include:

  • Several hours of practice both in the morning and afternoon, sitting about 25 to 30 minutes at a time with walking meditation in between

  • Time to catch up on rest or enjoy some nature in the early mornings, after lunch, and also in the evenings

  • Individual meetings for personalized guidance, and talks on meditation for instruction and support

FAQs and What to Expect

Q: How much experience in meditation do I need?

A: People attend from a wide range of experiences, often from learning on an app, in a book, in yoga, therapy, etc., while others have been practicing for many years in one or many meditation traditions. All of this is warmly welcome! So yes, if you’ve learned on your phone and want to go farther, this is for you:)

Q: What if I’ve never meditated before?

A: Please try it out and make sure it feels like something you want to do all weekend. You can watch a video instruction on this page and email me with questions or if you’d like to connect before the retreat. I’ll be happy to help!

Q: How much support will there be?

A: I offer an initial meditation instruction the opening evening, an individual meeting during the weekend, an optional talk, and if we need more, I’ll make more space. My goal is definitely to ensure everyone is comfortable and supported! That said, I also want you to enjoy your peace and quiet, so am balancing those.

Q: How long will we meditate? Do I have to sit still the whole time?

A: We alternate sitting and walking meditation, sitting about 25 minutes at a time, for a total of about six hours each day. We’ll go over all kinds of postures we can use, including in a chair, and we can always move when we need to—-it is NOT meant to be physically strenuous in any way, but rather a time of deep rest.

Q: What kind of meditation will we practice and can I get more of a feel for the approach?

A: Absolutely! Please see this page for more info, and you can even read part of a book I wrote to support you. And of course, if you already have your own practice, “you do you” so long as it’s silent.
